Koninkryk van Beton

“Koninkryk van Beton” was written recently as a result of many travels and adventures since Fransien and her husband left South Africa more than two decades ago. This song describes how one has to let go of so many things when we make the decision to look ahead - whether it is moving to another house, making changes to our lives or moving across vast oceans to embrace new places en experiences. Fransien describes that these adventures, though very difficult, as a decision to allow yourself to reach out to the unknown and new possibilities by not fixating on or holding on to out material things or the things that make us feel comfortable. We cannot make space for the new if we cannot let go of some of the old.

Even though Fransien is now living abroad and have been for a few years, she is very much still a South African at heart and continues to write in her beautiful mother tongue.
